Why Hats???
|
There is a traditional link between thinking and hats - 'Put your thinking caps on...' The hat is also a piece of clothing that you can easily put on or take off. This is important, as it is necessary to be able to take on or off the various 'Thinking Hats' The hats indicate a certain role, and have been colour coded to help you remember them. Each hat is a different way of thinking. When you put one of the hats on you use it exclusively in that mode of thinking. When you change hats you change your way of thinking. We have six types of hats, as research suggested that people think in broadly six ways. Fewer than this would not cover different situations adequately, more than this and the hats become harder to remember. The hats are usually drawn in a 'Top Hat' style. -
